Knott Co. man dies in single vehicle crash

MALLIE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is dead after a single vehicle crash in Knott County Friday morning.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened just before 7 a.m. on KY 160, near the junction of Highway 899.

KSP says Kelly Pigman, 48, was traveling north on KY 160 when he lost control of his vehicle. They explain the truck crossed the center line and southbound lane, before going off the left shoulder, where it hit a concrete bridge.

KSP says the Knott County Coroner pronounced Pigman dead on scene.

No other people were in the vehicle.

According to KSP, Pigman was not wearing a seat belt, and no autopsy will be performed.

KSP says the cause leading up to the crash has not been determined, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The crash is still under investigation by KSP.
