Kids Help Homeless Children With Salvation Army’s ‘LemonAiD’ Fundraiser
On Thursday, the caring kids turned in their hard-earned money at a celebration in the parking lot of Fayette Mall in Lexington.
The Salvation Army will use the donations to provide everything from food and clothing to school supplies for the children in the shelter.
"One of our goals is to create life-long philanthropists. Encouraging caring behavior and empowering children to make a difference is an important part of LemonAiD," said Major Steven Ashcraft, Central Kentucky Area Services Coordinator for The Salvation Army.
Last year’s LemonAiD campaign raised nearly $50,000. Officials said they hoped to surpass that total this year.
The online LemonAiD giving option will remain open through August.
All online donations will be matched up to $5,000 by Columbia Gas of Kentucky.
