Kentucky Women in Agriculture host annual conference

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky farms are looking for a few good women.

More than a hundred women came together for a three day conference in Lexington to discuss a variety of issues facing the agriculture industry including how to recruit more young people, specifically young women.

Those in the industry say they’ve seen a sharp increase in the number of women getting into agriculture but say they are still trying to figure out better ways to recruit young women for more leadership and technical roles.

“Maybe they’re deterred because they think it is a mans world but it’s becoming a woman’s world we’re there to help those women network and get the information they need to pursue what their desires are,” said Helena Pitcock with Kentucky Women in Agriculture.
