Kentucky woman due in court in mother’s shooting death case

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Laurel County woman accused of fatally shooting her mother is scheduled for a pretrial conference Monday, court records show.

26-year-old Brianna Rich faces a murder charge in the March 14 death of her mother, Carol Rich, at their Burnett Road home. According to the indictment, deputies discovered Carol Rich with a gunshot wound when they arrived at the residence earlier this year.

Rich’s attorney and prosecutors will meet during the pretrial conference to discuss motions, evidence and trial scheduling. The hearing is set for 9 a.m. in Laurel County Circuit Court.

The investigation remains open, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
