Kentucky woman drowns in North Carolina
EMERALD ISLE, N.C. (WTVQ) – A rip current in North Carolina has claimed the life of a Kentucky woman.
Authorities say 49-year old Donna Sue Miller, of Clay City, was visiting Emerald Isle with a close friend and the friend’s 9-year old daughter.
The three were reportedly caught in a rip current shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say Miller’s friend and the child were able to make it back to shore but Miller was found a short time later, face down in the water.
She was brought to shore and emergency crews began doing CPR on her.
Miller was then taken to a hospital where authorities say she was pronounced dead.
