Kentucky woman accused of killing mother, dismemberment case back in court

MOUNT OLIVET, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A woman accused of killing and dismembering her mother was back in court Monday morning in Robertson County.

According to Kentucky State Police, 36-year-old Torilena Fields was charged in the October 2024 death of her mother, 59-year-old Trudy Fields. Investigators say the case began when a worker checking the property on Brierly Ridge Road discovered drag marks, blood-stained mattresses, and what appeared to be human remains in the backyard.

Troopers later found additional remains inside the home, including body parts in a pot in the oven. Fields was taken into custody after refusing to leave the residence. Police say she had blood on her face, hands, and clothing when she emerged.

She is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and obstructing and tampering with physical evidence.

The case drew national attention last fall due to the disturbing details. Officials say the investigation is ongoing, and additional court proceedings are expected.
