Kentucky volleyball sweeps Alabama, stays perfect in SEC play
TUSCALOOSA, Al. (ABC 36 SPORTS) – The Kentucky volleyball team rolled past Alabama 3-0 on Sunday afternoon, earning its fifth SEC sweep of the season. The win keeps the Wildcats perfect in conference play at 9-0 and improves their overall record to 16-2.
Freshman setter Kassie O’Brien had a record-setting day, finishing with 50 assists on Kentucky’s 53 kills. Her 50 assists are the most ever by a Kentucky freshman in a three-set match.
The Wildcats were strong on both sides of the ball, hitting .381 as a team while holding Alabama to just .189. Brooklyn DeLeye led the offense with 16 kills, and Eva Hudson added 14.
Kentucky will return home to Historic Memorial Coliseum on Friday night to face Vanderbilt at 7 p.m., looking to keep its SEC winning streak alive.
