Kentucky Volleyball earns #3 seed in NCAA tournament along with SEC honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky will be hosting the first and second rounds of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament at Historical Memorial Coliseum this week.
The cats were selected as the overall #3 seed in the tournament, and are set to host Cleveland State on Thursday at 7:30 pm. The winner of #3 Kentucky/ Cleveland State will play the winner of Western Kentucky/#6 Minnesota on Friday at 7 pm.
Additionally, Kentucky earned a group of SEC honors on Sunday. Brooklyn DeLeye was named the 2024 SEC Player of the Year, as well as First Team All-SEC. DeLeye averages 4.72 kills per set with a .282 hitting percentage.
Head Coach Craig Skinner was named SEC Coach of the Year for the second-straight season and the sixth time in his career.
Emma Grome was also named First Team All-SEC. The senior led the conference with 11.17 assists per set.
Molly Tuozzo earned Second Team All-SEC, and both Asia Thigpen and Brooke Bultema were named on the SEC All-Freshman team.
