Kentucky State Police locates family assisting State Trooper who was shot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — Kentucky State Police say they have identified the Good Samaritans who rendered life-saving aid to a wounded trooper after he was shot near Blue Grass Airport on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, KSP thanked the public for helping them find the family who rushed to help moments after the shooting. State Police had earlier asked for help locating the individuals so they could express their gratitude.

The trooper was shot during a violent series of events Sunday morning that also ended with two people killed and two injured in a shooting at Richmond Road Baptist Church. The suspect was killed by police.

State Police said they were grateful to the family for their quick action and plan to recognize them more formally at a later time.
