Kentucky State Police investigating in-custody death in Pulaski County
SOMERSET, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police have launched an investigation into the in-custody death of a Pulaski County man.
According to KSP Post 11 in London, deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 47-year-old Brian L. Turner of Somerset at a home on KY 1676 on Friday, July 18.
Before he was taken into custody, investigators say Turner ingested a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, according to a KSP release. EMS was called to the scene, and Turner was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he died the next day, July 19, according to the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy was conducted Monday at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, and toxicology results are pending. State police said drugs are suspected to be a contributing factor in the death.
