Kentucky State Police investigating hit-and-run involving Amish buggy

CARLISLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police is investigating a hit-and-run crash involving an Amish buggy that left two people seriously injured in Nicholas County.

According to a release from KSP, the collision happened close to midnight on Sunday (11/19) on Concrete Road (KY 36). Investigators say an unknown vehicle struck the buggy from behind and then drove off from the scene.

Troopers say one passenger in the buggy suffered serious injuries and was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where they remain in serious condition. Another passenger sustained fractures to both legs and was also hospitalized, while the buggy’s driver was treated and released.

As the investigation continued, police located the vehicle believed to have left the scene — a 2008 silver Dodge Ram pickup truck — in Carlisle. No one was in the truck.
