Kentucky State Police investigating Breathitt County murder

WATTS, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Breathitt County man is facing a murder charge after Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a domestic incident Tuesday morning.

According to KSP, troopers in Hazard received a call just before 6:45 a.m. on March 11 requesting an ambulance for a man experiencing a mental health crisis at a home on Walter Lane in the Watts community. Before emergency services arrived, a second call was made reporting that the man had barricaded himself inside the residence, prompting law enforcement to respond.

When troopers arrived, they found 42-year-old Lance Hyde inside the home, along with 44-year-old Jessica Campbell-Hyde, who was deceased from apparent puncture wounds to the torso.

Hyde was arrested and taken to Kentucky River Regional Jail, where he’s charged with one count of murder (domestic violence). Campbell-Hyde’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
