Kentucky State Police awards their civilian employees

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman joined the Kentucky State Police (KSP) on Sunday for an awards ceremony honoring the achievements of KSP’s civilian employees.

Fifteen civilian employees received various awards for their dedication to enhancing public safety. The honors included the 2023 Civilian of the Year, Career Achievement, and Police Communications Support and Supervisor of the Year.

KSP employs 800 individuals in various roles, all focused on supporting public safety. During the ceremony, Gary Thomas, a 23-year veteran of the agency, was awarded the Civilian of the Year. KSP noted that Thomas played a crucial role in shutting down an organized crime ring responsible for over ten million dollars in theft.
