Kentucky State Parks 100th anniversary celebration event in Frankfort

Frankfort, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Governor Andy Beshear will join tourism officials and park leaders to mark the 100th anniversary of Kentucky State Parks on Monday, July 1, at 11 a.m. EDT at the Old State Capitol, located at 300 W. Broadway.

The Old State Capitol holds historical significance in the establishment of the state parks system.

In 1924, State Geological Surveyor Dr. Willard Rouse Jillson delivered a pivotal speech to the General Assembly at this site, emphasizing the need to preserve natural parks for future generations.
