Kentucky State Fair opens activities Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several events on Thursday, August 20 will kick off the opening day of the Kentucky State Fair.

Events include the Kentucky Commodity Group Appreciation Breakfast, Opening Day Ceremony, a free Action XTREME Sport Show in Freedom Hall and the free concerts in Cardinal Stadium.

The Fair opens with the Kentucky Commodity Group Appreciation Breakfast sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture at 7:00 a.m.  The official ribbon cutting takes place at 5:30 p.m. on the Family Stage in South Wing C Lobby. Governor Steve Beshear, Lieutenant Governor Crit Luallen and Mayor Greg Fischer will speak.
 
Freedom Hall Main Stage Concert Series opens with The Action XTREME Sport Show featuring the world’s number one traveling extreme sports entertainment teams, the BMX Pros and Team FMX. The free event is at 7:00 p.m. and no tickets are needed.  Slaughter with Great White perform for free at 8:00 p.m. in Cardinal Stadium to kick off the Turf Concert Series.
