Kentucky Softball wins opening weekend tournament

CLEARWATER, Fl. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Despite a 6-3 loss to #8 Duke on Sunday, Kentucky softball are winners of the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Lead-Off Classic.

Head Coach Rachel Lawson’s team is 4-1 on the season and won the tournament for the first time in school history on a +34 run differential.

Had the Wildcats beat the Blue Devils, they would’ve gone 5-0 to start a season for the first time since 202.

Kentucky will be in action on Thursday afternoon as part of the ESPN Shriners Children’s Elite Invitational at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex running all of next weekend in Clearwater.
