Kentucky shortstop Tyler Bell announced to Collegiate National Team
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky freshman shortstop Tyler Bell has been selected to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, becoming one of the youngest players ever to earn the honor. He is the first Wildcat named to the team since left-handed pitcher Zack Thompson in 2018.
Bell capped off a standout freshman season by ranking among Kentucky’s top five in RBIs, runs, extra-base hits, stolen bases, and slugging percentage. He also hit 10 home runs, tying the program’s freshman home run record set back in 1993.
The Collegiate National Team will represent the U.S. in the Japan Collegiate All-Star Series, taking place July 8–13 across various cities in Japan.
