Kentucky Secretary of State launches business initiative to combat human trafficking
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams is urging businesses across the Commonwealth to join the fight against human trafficking through the Kentucky Businesses Against Trafficking (KBAT) program.
KBAT provides hotels, liquor stores, transportation hubs and other workplaces with training materials and reporting tools to help employees spot and report signs of trafficking. Adams says these businesses often encounter victims who may not realize they are being exploited.
“Front‐line workers in many industries are uniquely positioned to recognize suspicious behavior and reach out for help,” Adams said. “Empowering them with the right information can save lives.”
Businesses can enroll in the free program and download resources at the KBAT website.
