Kentucky school bus stranded by flooding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Officials in a northern Kentucky school district say a school bus with 16 students aboard has been stranded by floodwaters.

Grant County school district spokeswoman Nancy Howe says the bus has stopped on high ground as rescuers work out a plan to reach them.

Howe says floodwaters inundated two routes that the bus driver could have taken to reach schools in the rural county. She says one crossing over a low-lying creek was swamped by water, and the other route was also covered in floodwater.

Much of Kentucky has been swamped by heavy rains that caused flash flooding.
