Kentucky offers $2M grant for colleges to improve energy resilience
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky is offering a $2 million grant to public universities and colleges to improve energy resilience and reliability.
The funding is part of the Kentucky Resilient Micro-grid Program, designed to help schools develop innovative solutions to keep power running during storms, floods, or other disruptions.
Gov. Andy Beshear said the program will support energy efficiency, lower costs, and encourage community leadership in building stronger, more reliable power systems.
A public webinar on September 4 will guide potential applicants through the process. Applications open September 15 and are due by October 31.
The grant is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy and the State Energy Program as Kentucky continues expanding grid resilience statewide.
