Kentucky National Guard celebrates new facility

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Governor Andy Beshear joined Kentucky National Guard members to celebrate their new joint force headquarters.

“The new headquarters is a major step forward as the guard continues to reach its goals,” Governor Beshear said.

The 15.9-million-dollar facility will help all of Kentucky National Guard’s different operations work together more efficiently and effectively.

“The building behind me, it really gives that sense of that type of change and evolution for the guard, and what and who we are today,” Major General Haldane Lamberton said.

Major General Lamberton also saying that the new facility is right at the heart of the Boone National Guard Center while will provide a convenient location for all different entities of the National Guard to come together.

“To be in the same physical environment with each of those other entities, it hugely increases the efficiency that we work together as an organization, that we work together for the head of our organization, and all the collaborative staff work that takes place for each one of those entities because everyone is involved,” MG Lamberton said.

Also, a focus of celebration today: the men and women who serve in the National Guard.

“You deserve the support of the entire United States of America every day you serve, especially at the scariest of times,” Beshear said.

After the speeches, the ribbon was cut, the band played, and the new facility was opened.

“Life is short, our job is to do good thing and be kind to each other, and that’s what our National Guard does everyday,” Beshear said.
