Kentucky moves to .500 after an 80-57 win over South Carolina
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The cats got back into the win column with a much-needed victory over the Gamecocks on Saturday 80-57.
Kentucky moved to .500 in the SEC (5-5). South Carolina is now 0-10 in the conference.
Lamont Butler was back in the lineup and started Saturday’s game. However, Butler and Jaxson Robinson were both game-time decisions on Saturday, after Robinson sustained a wrist injury in practice on Friday. Butler had eight points and three assists, and Robinson put up six points and four assists.
The cats were led by Otega Oweh, who finished with 17 points; 15 of those coming from the second half.
Brandon Garrison was right behind him with season-high 15 points. Amari Williams and Kobe Brea both finished with 10 points. Brea also tallied a career-high six assists.
It was Kentucky’s best defensive marks in the conference so far this season; limiting South Carolina to 46% from the field and 27% from the three.
Kentucky hosts #4 Tennessee back at Rupp Arena on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
