Kentucky man arrested after alleged attempt to meet 15-year-old for sex
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A Mercer County man has been arrested after police say he tried to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex.
According to investigators, 53-year-old Hector Carrizales began messaging what he believed was a teenage girl on Facebook on September 25. The profile, however, was a decoy account created by law enforcement and clearly indicated the “girl” was underage, including a 2009 birth year and an AI-generated image.
Police say Carrizales continued messaging for weeks, offering money and admitting he wanted to have sex. When he agreed to meet the decoy in person, officers moved in and arrested him Wednesday.
Carrizales is now facing charges related to the attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
