Kentucky maintains narrow lead in blood drive
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – After the third day of Big Blue Slam — the annual Kentucky versus Florida blood battle — Kentucky leads the competition by a close, 865 to 855.
“It’s a ballgame! The Gator fans are close, but Cat fans are hanging onto the lead. We hope to see lots of donors bleeding blue tomorrow and Friday,” said Martha Osborne, Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment for Kentucky Blood Center (KBC).
The Rupp Arena Blood Drive, where donors get the opportunity to donate on the floor and take some shots on the court, is Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. No appointments are necessary.
Donors this week at all KBC blood drives and donor centers will receive a Slam T-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball South Regional at the Yum! Center in Louisville on March 24 and 26.
Big Blue Slam continues through Friday, and Kentucky fans have ample opportunity to prove they bleed blue. KBC’s five donor centers will be open special hours – 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. – and there will be daily mobile blood drives throughout the region.
