Kentucky lawmakers to return to Frankfort for 2026 legislative session

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) —

Kentucky lawmakers are set to return to Frankfort next week for the start of the 2026 legislative session.

According to state officials, the General Assembly will convene Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Renovation work continues at the Kentucky State Capitol, so lawmakers will meet in temporary chambers located next to the Capitol Annex.

Officials say the public will still be able to follow the session. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate will be available to watch through livestreams provided by KET and the Legislative Research Commission.

Lawmakers are expected to begin work on legislation shortly after the session officially opens.
