Kentucky keeps lead after day four of Big Blue Crush blood drive
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky keeps its lead after day four of the Big Blue Crush blood drive.
The Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) says another 447 Solid Blue fans donated Thursday.
That puts the score at 1742 for KBC and 1571 for Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville.
“Things are looking good for this week, but the work of saving lives isn’t over,” said Mandy Brajuha, Vice President of External Relations at KBC. “The need is constant, and collections have been uncharacteristically low this fall. We need the Big Blue Nation to bring it home tomorrow during the last day of the competition, and come back every 56 days to help us keep the blood supply strong.”
Brajuha says it’s safe to donate right now during the coronavirus and especially important since there are fewer mobile blood drives happening right now.
KBC and Medic Regional compete every year the week before Thanksgiving to make sure there’s enough blood for the holidays.
Kentucky leads the rivalry 18 to 13 with one tie.
When you donate, you’ll receive a long-sleeved t-shirt and be entered to win a 65: Samsung Crystal UHD television.
You’ll also be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.
The blood drive ends on Friday. Find out more about donating here.
