Kentucky Horse Park Dealing with Flooding

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Kentucky Horse Park is dealing with it’s fair share of flooding.

The worst of it at the entrance to the park, forcing officials to close off the main entrance.

The park rerouted traffic to a secondary entrance for most of the morning Thursday.

In addition to the entrance, several fields and other areas were flooded with feet of water causing staff to have to move some of their horses to higher ground.

Officials say the park is used to having to deal with flooding like this and says it is more of an inconvenience than anything else.

“My experience here, speaking with employees that have been here for several years, they said this is, it’s been a lot worse than this and it’s something that you just have to keep that in mind and take it in stride knowing that it’s always going to be unpredictable and we just have to plan our best,” said Jonathan Lang, with the Kentucky Horse Park.

While officials say those areas could remain flooded through this weekend, they don’t expect it to affect the Home Expo that’s scheduled to be at Alltech Arena this weekend.
