Kentucky funeral home providing military funeral to veteran with no family
LANCASTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Ramsey Funeral Home says it wants to make sure Vietnam War Veteran, Don Kaas is buried with the dignity and honor he deserves.The funeral home owner turned to social media for help. In a Facebook message posted on Tuesday. Shane Young mentions Kaas had no family willing to claim him after his death on July 29.
His message was shared more than 4,000 times on Facebook and Twitter. Dozens left messages of condolences on the funeral home’s web site. Young says Kaas, who lived in Salvisa, Kentucky was “not respected or cared for enough while living,” but says the funeral home “will do everything in its power to make sure he is honored in a distinguished way”.
Because of Young’s post, a number of veterans groups came forward, saying they plan on attending the funeral. The funeral home has also invited the public to the service to pay tribute. Kaas will be buried with full military honors at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine county at 11 a.m. Thursday.
