Kentucky Fish and Wildlife’s Operation Dry Water

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) With the Fourth of July just around the corner, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is stepping up patrols on lakes and rivers as part of “Operation Dry Water,” a national campaign targeting boating under the influence.

Game wardens will be on high alert for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, which officials say can severely affect judgment, coordination, and reaction time—putting everyone on the water at risk.

Boating under the influence remains one of the leading causes of fatal accidents on the water, according to officials.

Kentuckians are urged to celebrate safely by staying sober and following all boating laws during the holiday weekend.
