Kentucky Fish and Wildlife welcomes Game Warden recruit class

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has welcomed its largest class of game warden recruits in more than a decade.

Class 29 officially began training on August 18, with 14 new recruits entering a six-week intensive agency training program. From there, they’ll attend the Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy in Richmond before returning for an additional 10 weeks at the Fish and Wildlife Academy.

Upon graduation, the new wardens will be assigned to districts across the Commonwealth, where they’ll work to protect wildlife, conserve natural resources, and ensure public safety.

A second group — Class 30 — is set to begin training on September 22 with 16 additional recruits.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife says anyone interested in pursuing a career as a conservation officer can find more information at fw.ky.gov.
