Kentucky falls to No. 17 Tennessee for 10th straight SEC loss

LEXINGTON, KY. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky falls to Tennessee in a shootout for the fifth straight season by a score of 56 to 34 under the lights at Kroger Field. It was an offensive duel between the two rivals on Saturday night. The Tennessee offense had 504 yards of offense (396 passing) while Kentucky had 476 yards of offense (330 passing). After tonight’s loss. Kentucky’s SEC losing streak has reached ten games as well has their home sec home game losing streak.

The offense had signs of life in tonight’s game against Tennessee. Despite one pick six, caused by a deflection by a lineman, Cutter Boley had a great game tonight against the Volunteers. Boley completed 26/35 passes for 330 yards and five touchdowns, this included two 50+ yard touchdowns, one to Kendrick law and one to D.J. Miller. On the ground, in the place of the injured Seth McGowan, the carries were split between Jason Patterson and Dante Dowdell. Patterson had 15 carries for 51 yards and Dowdell had 12 carries for 52 yards before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with an injury.

After a great game against Texas last Saturday, the Kentucky defense struggled today against the high octane Tennessee offense. The Volunteer offense came out on fire scoring a touchdown on three of their first four drives. Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar was extremely efficient against the Wildcat defense. He completed 20/26 passes for 396 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Brazzell led the team in receiving yards and running back Star Thomas led the team in rushing yards. The Kentucky defense was able to force one sack and three tackles for loss in tonight’s game and J.Q. Hardaway led the Wildcat defense in tackles.

Kentucky will travel to Auburn next Saturday to face the Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will kick off, once again, at 7:30 P.M. EDT on the SEC Network.
