Kentucky falls in final road game of the year to Texas A&M
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky Wildcats fell to the Texas A&M Aggies 96–85 on Tuesday night at Reed Arena.
Kentucky got off to a quick start against Texas A&M. In fact, the Wildcats held a 30–18 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first half.
However, the Aggies caught fire. Texas A&M went on a 27–3 run over the final eight minutes of the half to take a 45–33 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, Kentucky made multiple pushes to cut into the Aggies’ lead, but the Wildcats could not trim the deficit to single digits until the 1:34 mark.
Otega Oweh was Kentucky’s leading scorer once again, finishing with 24 points. He also tallied eight rebounds and five assists. Mo Dioubate joined him in double figures with 19 points off the bench.
Trent Noah added eight points and knocked down two three-pointers off the bench but limped off the court with 45 seconds remaining after stepping on Mark Pope’s foot.
The Aggies received strong bench production throughout the night, including 52 combined points from Rylan Griffen (21), Ruben Dominguez (17, 5-of-8 from three-point range), and Rashaun Agee (14).
Texas A&M was red hot from beyond the arc all game. The Aggies shot 13-of-28 (46%) from three-point range, with nine of those makes coming from bench players.
Kentucky struggled with turnovers against the Aggies’ press. The Wildcats committed 12 turnovers and finished minus +5 in turnover margin.
With the loss, Kentucky falls to 19–11 (10–7 SEC) on the season. Texas A&M improves to 20–10 (10–7 SEC).
The Wildcats will now head home for Senior Day, where they will face the SEC regular-season champion Florida Gators (23–6, 14–2 SEC) on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN.
