Kentucky Democratic Party files complaint against Gov. Bevin over fundraiser
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Democratic Party is accusing Governor Matt Bevin of breaking the law with his fundraiser with President Donald Trump.
The party filed a complaint with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, claiming Bevin is violating campaign finance laws because guests who want to take a photo with the president are expected to donate the maximum amount under Kentucky law to Bevin’s 2015 primary and general election campaign accounts.
The Kentucky Democratic Party alleges Bevin will pocket all of the money to cover personal loans he made to the 2015 campaign.
Bevin’s campaign manager, Davis Paine, tells the Herald-Leader newspaper the KDP’s accusations are “wild and untrue.”
