Kentucky confirms 13th measles case of 2025 in Jefferson County child

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky health officials have confirmed another case of measles, bringing the state’s total for 2025 to 13.

According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the latest case was confirmed in a child in the Louisville-Jefferson County area. Officials say the child became sick after traveling to another country.

The department is now working to identify anyone who may have been exposed to the child while they were contagious.

Health officials noted this case does not appear to be connected to the ongoing measles outbreak reported earlier this year in Woodford and Fayette counties.
