Kentucky chomps Gators in Big Blue Slam

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)– Kentucky finished the week strong and defeated Florida, 1,733 to 1,463, in the 11^th annual Big Blue Slam. Kentucky now leads the series, 6 to 5.

Big Blue Slam is the 11^th annual blood battle between the Cats and the Gators and KBC and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Gainesville to see which fans can donate the most blood at a time when winter weather and flu season can hamper donations.

Blood donors must be at least 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
