Kentucky Children’s Hospital celebrates 10 years of pediatric forensics work

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Leaders from across the Commonwealth gathered Wednesday at UK Chandler Hospital to mark the 10th anniversary of the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Division of Pediatric Forensics.

Attorney General Russell Coleman and State Senator Amanda Mays Bledsoe joined hospital officials and advocates to recognize a decade of work helping children impacted by abuse and neglect.

The division, launched in 2015, recently expanded its services with the opening of a new clinic — made possible by a $2 million donation from Kosair for Kids.

“Our vision has always been to foster a safe environment for children and adolescents — one that emphasizes prevention and education around child maltreatment, and that’s done through collaboration, identification, intervention, and advocacy,” said Dr. Christina Howard, Chief of the UK Division of Pediatric Forensics.

Officials say the program will continue to provide vital care and support for vulnerable children across Kentucky.
