Kentucky breweries join national #BlackIsBeautifulBeer campaign

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There’s a collaboration between breweries across the country and here in Kentucky on social media called #BlackIsBeautifulBeer.

Breweries across the U.S. are selling the beer, which is exciting for brew fans, but it’s the message behind the pour that’s sparking conversation.

According to the website, the effort seeks to “raise aweareness for the injustices people of color face daily and raise funds for police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged.”

More than 1,000 breweries have joined the cause including seven, so far, here in Kentucky. Ethereal, Mirror Twin and Pivot Brewing in Lexington are listed.

Those who take part are asked to donate 100% of the beer’s proceeds to local foundations supporting the mission, among other requests.
