LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It’s a very special day for the Commonwealth as Kentucky turns 227.
Kentucky became the 15th state in the union on June 1, 1792 after Virginia gave its consent to Kentucky statehood in 1789.
Our state is the birthplace of President Abraham Lincoln and Muhammad Ali.
Our state is famous for horse racing and bourbon.
