Kentucky basketball target Jasper Johnson to commit on September 5

VERSAILLES, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Five star shooting guard and Versailles native, Jasper Johnson, is hours away from making his college decision.

The former Woodford County and Link Academy player will announce where he plans to attend college shortly after 2:30 p.m. at Woodford County High School. The ceremony will begin around 2 p.m.

Five schools, Kentucky, Alabama, Louisville, North Carolina and Arkansas, remain among Johnson’s potential landing spots.

“I like to say that I’ve made my decision,” said Johnson on a podcast this week. “A lot can happen between today and September 5 so you never know.”

This coming season, Johnson is playing for Overtime Elite after transferring from Link Academy in the offseason. Making a choice sooner than later has been a priority for for Johnson.

“(Committing early) gives you a year to work on what’s coming from your coaching staff,” said Johnson on committing before his senior season.

Johnson’s decision will be broadcast live on 247Sports and ABC 36 will have coverage on his decision starting on Good Afternoon Kentucky.
