Kentucky agency releases Boat Sober app
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has released a new mobile app for smart phones and tablets that provides information on boating safety and boating under the influence.
Called Boat Sober, the app is available for Android systems from Google Play and for Apple iOS systems at the App Store.
The agency’s assistant director of law enforcement, Maj. Shane Carrier, says it’s hoped the app will help make Kentucky waterways safe and enjoyable. Carrier says drinking and boating are more dangerous than drinking and driving.
The Boat Sober app has a blood alcohol estimator, a button to report a reckless boat operator and a feature to simulate the effect of alcohol consumption on vision.
There’s also help in finding marinas, links to education regulations and safety class schedules.
