Kentuckians mourn former Senator and baseball star Jim Bunning

SOUTHGATE, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentuckians from all over are mourning Saturday night. Former Kentucky senator Jim Bunning has died at age 85.

Bunning served in the senate from 1999 to 2011. Before that, he pitched for multiple major league baseball teams from the 1950’s through 1971. His son, U.S. District Judge, David Bunning tweeted a photo of him with the caption: “Heaven got its no 1 starter today”.

Bunning is a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

In fact, he was one of only 18 modern major league pitchers to throw a perfect game.
