Keeneland September Yearling Sale returns to Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Keeneland is preparing to host one of the biggest events in horse racing as the September Yearling Sale begins Monday at 1 p.m.

Now in its 82nd year, the sale is billed as the “world’s yearling sale,” featuring more than 4,600 horses, including yearlings sired by Flightline and Life Is Good.

Last year’s auction generated more than $428 million, setting records and drawing global buyers to Central Kentucky. Keeneland officials say the event is a key driver for the racing industry and the region’s economy.

The sale runs through September 20 and is free and open to the public.
