K-9 unit nabs two after police pursuit in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) –  Frankfort police officers say they used a K-9 unit to end a dangerous chase early Monday morning.

Around 1:20 a.m., officers say they saw a 1999 Toyota Corolla traveling on US 127 South that had been reported stolen.  When they tried to stop the car, police say the driver ignored a signal to stop and kept driving.  The driver eventually turned onto a dead end road, according to police.  While officers were trying to get the two occupants of the car out, the driver managed to get turned around and took off again, narrowly missing one officer.

Investigators say the car took back off on US 127 North, until the driver turned onto Parkside Drive.  Police say the driver then ran through a fence onto the Juniper Hills Golf Course, where the car came to rest.  According to police, the driver and passenger took off on foot.

That’s when officers say they brought in a police K-9 unit to track the suspects.  The passenger of the car, 36-year-old Bryan C. Wells of Georgetown was found hiding in the bed of a truck parked on Juniper Drive.  Officers say while he was being arrested, Wells kicked an officer in the face, causing injury.

The K-9 unit then searched for the female driver, who was found hiding in an unoccupied dog house behind a home in a nearby neighborhood.  Investigators say the K-9 bit 26-year-old Myranda C. Skinner of Lexington on the foot.  She was treated and released for a minor injury.

Skinner and Wells were both booked into the Franklin Co. Regional Jail

Officers say they were able to determine that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Georgetown.
