Juvenile surrenders after standoff
LESLIE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A juvenile surrendered to authorities Monday after an armed standoff in a mountainous area of Leslie County, according to the Leslie County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they were responding to a report of a runaway juvenile in the Mozelle community when a deputy located the individual armed with a rifle. Authorities say a standoff followed in the rugged terrain.
During the incident, the sheriff’s office says the juvenile allegedly fired a single shot before later surrendering to deputies.
No injuries were reported.
Officials did not release additional details. The incident remains under investigation.
