Judge to hear from Governor, Attorney General on depositions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A judge will hear from both sides of the widely debated pension bill Monday.

The judge is trying to decide whether whether the Governor’s office may take depositions from the Fraternal Order of Police, the Kentucky Education Association and the Attorney General’s office over SB 151, also known as the pension bill.

The bill’s passage back in March triggered a swift lawsuit from Attorney General Andy Beshear. Beshear called it unconconstitutional for ignoring the “three-day rule” that says a bill must be read three times on three seperate days in each chamber before it is approved.

A judge already turned down requests from the Governor’s attorneys to remove Beshear from the case. The hearing is scheduled for 9 am.
