Johnsonville travels to Lexington, Georgetown for goodwill grilling
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Johnsonville’s Big Taste Grill is a semi-turned-grill that tours the country doing what they call Goodwill Grilling. The truck is 53,000 pounds and can cook hundreds of brats at a time and up to 2,000 per hour.
The traveling grill is in Central Kentucky this week making a stop in Georgetown on Friday and at tailgate festivities Saturday in Lexington.
Grillmaster Jay Whetsel says it’s, “Always good to celebrate tailgating and college football, SEC, and of course we’re out here doing it for a good cause.”
Whetsel says they bring charities on-board and train them to work on the grill. In turn, 100% of donations will go back to the charity. This week, God’s Pantry Food Bank is the recipient.
Whetsel says they’re asking for a $3 donation when you stop by.
The public is invited to see them in Georgetown on Friday, Sept. 13 from 3-7 p.m. at the Kroger located at 106 Marketplace Circle.
Then, on Saturday, Sept. 14 they’ll be stationed from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Kroger on 3175 Beaumont Centre Circle in Lexington.
