Killed Jessamine Co. paramedic remembered for his love of life, passion to help

Nicholasville, Ky (WTVQ) – The community starts to say goodbye to killed Jessamine County paramedic John Mackey.

Visitation for Mackey is Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. at Bethel Harvest Church, 3260 Lexington Road in Nicholasville.  The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m., also at the church.

Mackey was a 16-year veteran of the Jessamine County EMS. He was hit by a car after getting out of his ambulance to inspect some side mirror damage. He later died at the hospital.

Those who knew Mackey say he loved life and had a passion for helping people.

Friends, family and other first responders said goodbye to Mackey at Thursdays visitation.
