Jockey Junior Alvarado looking for first Kentucky Derby win
Wood Memorial winner Resilience is Alvarado's mount at Churchill Downs
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Jockey Junior Alvarado says he wouldn’t trade any horse for his Wood Memorial winner Resilience. A first Kentucky Derby win could be in the cards for Alvarado and he feels confident that his mount is the best he can get.
“(Resilience) is progressing race by race,” said Alvarado. “He was able to win the Wood Memorial pretty easily. It was very impressive.”
Hall Of Fame trainer Bill Mott has also helped Resilience improve over time.
“Hopefully he’s going to be very competitive in this race,” said Alvarado. “He gives me a feeling that a jockey always wants.”
