Jobless rates drop in all 120 counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky officials say unemployment rates in September fell in all 120 of the state’s counties compared to a year ago.

The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training says it’s the second straight month that year-over-year jobless rates declined in every county.

The agency says last month was the first time on record that county unemployment rates fell statewide.

It says Daviess and Warren counties had the lowest jobless rates in the state last month at 4.8 percent each. They were followed by Boone, Fayette, Madison, Oldham, Owen, Scott, Shelby, Simpson, Spencer and Woodford counties. Those counties had 4.9 percent jobless rates.

Jackson County had the state’s highest unemployment rate at 13.2 percent. Magoffin County was next at 12.6 percent. Harlan and Leslie counties each had 11.4 percent rates.
