Job posted for new Kentucky education commissioner
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Board of Education is officially looking for a new state education commissioner.
The job description has been posted, and applicants are encouraged to submit their information by July 17.
Commissioner Terry Holliday announced in April that he planned to retire Aug. 31. Holliday has been commissioner since 2009.
The Education Department said in a news release the board will use a list of characteristics it developed and suggestions from the public in evaluating candidates.
The release said the first round of interviews is expected in mid-August with the second round a couple of weeks later.
The release said the board will appoint an interim commissioner if necessary.
